I'm Tom Lewis, road captain for the club, just a quick post to tell you about how last week went!
We were absolutely swamped from the number of you that turned up! 88 people joined that night and we've had a further 40, membership is still open so if you haven't joined yet then do it! After finishing at 256 we headed out to the SU in our panda disguises and threw some dangerous shapes.
The roadies set off in five different groups and all made their way to Tatton Park via different routes (some nice and flat, others involving Swiss hills...). It was surprisingly cold already (well not that surprising for Manchester) but some coffee and cake at the park helped. We can already see there are loads of keen members which is great, some of which had to be held back a little to save Gareth from keeling over.
On Saturday the mountain bikers drove out to Llandegla and hit the jumps there for a while before going on the XC loop. Then on Sunday did some DH'ing at Wharncliffe and Grenoside. Again there are loads of new guys who are already pretty sick so who knows where we'll be in a few weeks time!
After the Saturday rides, a bunch went and had a BBQ and then watched England attempt to play rugby (no author bias here). After the tears stopped, we headed out to 256 again and some tried to drown the sorrow but most had a great time.
You can expect more material on this blog from now on, so check up now and again to see all the things going on in the club! A summary of the hill climb trials will be going up this evening.
