WEDNESDAY ROAD RIDES
We had a bit of an odd Wednesday, with two A and one B rides but it seems like everyone enjoyed!
In preparation for the BUCS hill climb, Will took a group of seven out to do some reps of Mam Tor and then head back on as flat a route as possible.
Tarn lead the second A ride on a flatter route out to Jodrell bank as a trial of A ride pace without a load of hills to do. In the end he tempted about 20 people to come join him which is great to see! You'd have thought that a nice flat ride down some Cheshire lanes wouldn't be asking too much skills-wise however Jack Bramham (below) managed to find a manure-covered road and wiped out, taking Amy out in the process. At least he had to ride only 20km with it all over him. On top of this Tarn had to deal with five punctures (one of them his) and argue with a driver who was arguing that bike boxes (on the road/advanced stop lines) weren't for bikes...
Oliver took the B ride (of only seven, he must have been lonely!) on a ride up Wizard's Hill below Alderley Edge and then back through Ponyton. They kept a very solid pace for the hills they did which is nice to see!
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
Over the past few weeks, a group of eight have been going through specific training with Nathan at DNA Sports (FB, Twitter), building their core strength and helping stay fit. This is a great chance some of our members get to really boost their performance.
The MTBers are planning to head out to Hayfield tomorrow, if you haven't signed up then check the FB page but chances are it's filled! We'll give you an update on Sunday on crashes and injuries.
SATURDAY ROAD RIDES
So here's what's happening tomorrow!
Rides all meet at Armitage at 10am sharp! Weather is dry but a little cold (~9-11°C) with a slight wind out in the peaks so again make sure you're layered up and you've got a waterproof/jacket with you. Remember you'll also need spare tubes, pump, food, drink and most importantly a helmet.
I (07482568815) will be taking the ride out to Glossop and up Snake and Winnats pass and finally up Whaley Lane. These are some pretty hefty climbs (Snake pass is ~6km long, and Winnats has sections of 30%) so perhaps consider the B ride if you're not feeling strong! Route (97km/60mi)
Rhys (07708449797) will go out towards Macclesfield via Blaze Hill (another hefty climb but not as formidable as Winnats) on this Route: (64km/40mi) There will be a cafe stop in Macclesfield at the Coffee Tavern as well.
That's all for the moment, any questions, chuck us a message!
