The first round of the LoG Enduro series went off hard today in the nearby hills of Mossley. It started in classic MTB style with some participants over-dosing on a late night training session and waking up late and hung-over.
It was a brutal route to say the least. Long arm-pounding descents, boggy technical rutted climbs and SLIPPY S-L-O-P EVERYWHERE. A number of first time and injured riders decided to opt out of the timed runs to get some race practice without the pressure.
The them of Stage 1 was the very steep top section and dog-walking obstacles. The two leaders Jonno and Isaac both had to stop for 4 legged life forms and ended up separated by just 0.3 of a second. On stage two, tired legs were pounded by a super fast off-camber rock fest. Our hardtail heroes had to pull over to rest burning arms; Jonno’s timer failed mid-stage offering him his second DNF of the series and Jake posted an astonishingly fast time to put him into second.
When all was wrapped up Isaac took a comfortable victory, Jake came in second, Tom in third and Jonno once again brought up the rear with a DNF.
Props to everyone that came, it was one tough, heart stopping son of a gun today.
